About Our School
AMDANOM NI / ABOUT US
Llanvihangel Crucorney School is a county primary, co-educational, day school for pupils aged 4 to 11 years. Pupils are taught in line with the Welsh Assembly Government’s Foundation Phase for pupils aged 4-7 years and the National Curriculum for pupils aged 7-11years. All subjects are taught through the English language with Welsh Second Language being taught as a separate subject. In addition to the class structure, pupils are in one of three 'Houses': Skirrid, Blorenge and Sugar Loaf. These are each made up of children from Reception to yr6, further enhancing the family atmosphere of our school, and are run by the children themselves.
Built in 1968, the School is set on a five acre site with two grass pitches. Basketball/netball and a floodlit multi-use court are integrated into the recreation area. Alongside, are nature areas that include a wildflower garden, planted copse, willow tunnel and vegetable planters. We encourage much learning and play in our outdoor environment. We have also recently received funding from the Big Lottery Fund and the PTFA to construct a Gazebo for use as a quiet space at breaktimes and lunchtimes and for wider community events.
Internally, the school consists of a multipurpose hall around which are our two classroom areas.
